Acupuncture works by stimulating the body to heal itself. Our lives are often disrupted by sickness, stress, environmental factors, trauma, poor diet, and much more. Acupuncture seeks to restore the natural balance or homeostasis within our bodies.
From a western perspective, it does this by boosting our immune systems, calming our nervous systems, and helping to release the good chemicals such as endorphins, which are the natural stress and pain relievers of the body. -
The first session begins with talking about your health concerns, and what you would like to gain from acupuncture. After that, you will relax on a very comfortable table-many patients fall asleep or experience deep relaxation. This is just one of the many benefits of acupuncture!

Most people avoid acupuncture because they fear that the needles are painful. Acupuncture needles bear no resemblance to hypodermic needles. They are as thin as a few hair strands and placed just under the skin. Some people feel a warm or tingling sensation upon insertion. In fact, acupuncture is one of the most relaxing experiences you will ever have!
Are the needles safe?
Yes! All needles are sterile and approved of by the FDA. They are used once and disposed of in the sharps container. In fact, acupuncture is a very safe practice. Liability insurance for most acupuncturists runs under $1000 per year. Licensed acupuncturists get extensive training in safe needling techniques before they can graduate.
